Dear ATM students, I would like to share experience I got during Risk Profile workshop with Michael Tay last Saturday. As a trader, I think it is crucial to understand my own risk profile and to be able to use it in my favor. With a help of games and psychological tests, Michael Tay gave us a better understanding of ourselves, our risk profiles, internal and external factors influencing our trading. Michael Tay explained how such important factors, such as age and family influence affect our risk profiles. He also taught us how to manage some of the challenging factors encountered most commonly by traders. At the end of the day, my risk profile read as follows: a. I am risk tolerant. And I am better suited to take small bets using strong money management. b. Similarly to most traders, I would require the help of a trading team to support me. However I am not a group player, as I would prefer to trade on my own. Group discussion would be beneficial. c. I also have a conducive trading environment. Knowing my risk profile, I would now use it to further enhance my trading and money management skills. I also found out the advantage to learn and develop new trading strategies through the help of a trading team. I honestly recommend this session to all live traders so that you can better understand yourself and your risk profile. After knowing your risk taking appetite, you would then be able to manage the level of stress during trading and adjust your trading style accordingly. |
